Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) Sénégal SA has been awarded a 2-year renewal of its Fuel Integrity program (the “program”) in the Republic of Sénégal. The award by the “Ministère de l'Economie et des Finances” follows an open competitive tender.
Since the inception of the program in September 2006, SGS has successfully addressed the risk of fraudulent distribution and selling of untaxed, low tax and export fuel leading to a significant increase in authorised fuel volumes and substantial tax collection resulting from massive reduction in frauds.
SGS protects all Senegal’s export fuel, low tax Kerosene and exonerated fuels supplied to selected industrial facilities, construction & mining sites and power stations to help Senegal to recover tax revenue being lost to fuel fraud and ensure fuel quality for Senegalese motorists.
Together with SGS’ fuel integrity programs in Ivory Coast and Togo, motorists in the West African region can be sure of their fuel quality.
"SGS is extremely pleased to continue to support the fuel tax collection capabilities in Senegal, with our highly dedicated teams working in close collaboaration with the Customs authorities of Dakar Pétroles," says Yves Schoen, Managing Director of SGS Senegal.
In addition to the financial benefits, these programs protect motorists from the damaging effects of using low-quality fuel and the Government of Senegal is to be commended for continuing this important program to protect its citizens from these illicit practices."
SGS currently operating in 8 national fuel integrity programs is the world leading fuel integrity company.
The SGS Group is the global leader and innovator in inspection, verification, testing and certification services. Founded in 1878, SGS is recognized as the global benchmark in quality and integrity.
