Deputy Commissioner of Police Frank Adu-Poku, Ashanti Regional Police Commander has appealed to the public to support the police in the discharge of their duties.
The public, he said, should at all times accord respect to the police and not perceive them as enemies since such misconception had in times past been inimical to the strengthening of the cordial relation between the police and the public.
Mr Adu-Poku made the call in a speech read on his behalf at a send-off party held for Assistant Superintendent of Police Joseph Antwi-Ababio, Deputy Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), in Kumasi at the weekend.
Mr Antwi-Ababio is on transfer to the Police Headquarters in Accra.
The Regional Police Commander cautioned police personnel to adhere to the code of ethics of the Ghana Police Service so as to retain the good image of the service.
He affirmed his outfit's commitment to curbing the incidence of armed robberies that had become rampant in the region in recent times.
Mr Antwi-Ababio thanked the Regional Police Command for the support they gave him.
