The leadership of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) in the Volta Region has expressed concern over the conduct of some of its members who clandestinely exhibit acts of misconduct with the intention to destroy the party.
In a Press Release dated 20th August 2007 and signed by Prince Ahiadzro, Regional Chairman of the party said it would not tolerate acts of indiscipline within the party.
The release urged members to be conversant with Article 11(f) of the party's constitution which states that" no member of the party shall institute or commence any legal action against the party without first having exhausted the provision of the constitution and other regulations for addressing grievances".
The Release said the regional executives would not countenance with the situation where members take things for granted and sought to question the decision of the Central Committee, which the release described as the supreme administrative organ of the party.
It reminded the rank and file of the Party that it was only the National Party Conference that is empowered to confirm, amend, repudiate or revoke any decision made by any subordinate organ of the party.
The release asked all aggrieved persons to resort to dialogue as a means to resolving all outstanding issues to ensure the internal cohesion in the party.
It urged the party members to take note that the constituency elections would be conducted in accordance with Article 25(iv) of the party constitution.
The release declared all conferences which have been conducted without adhering to the decision of the Central Committee null and void.
It would be recalled that on July 19, this year, a Ho Municipal Tribunal presided over by Mr. Justice Kofi Essel Mensah dismissed a writ brought before it by two members of the Steering Committee of the Volta Regional branch of the CPP
The writ sought an Interlocutory Injunction restraining Mr Prince Ahiadzro and Nii Adjetey Sowa, Regional Chairman and Secretary respectively from organizing or holding meetings in the name of the party.Source: GNA
