A breakthrough has emerged towards the solution of two of the high profile killings in Tema that have generated public anxiety in recent times,that is the cases of Roko Frimpong and Nii Quartey.Three people have been arrested by the police in connection with the murder of Mr Frimpong, Deputy Manager Director (Operations) of the Ghana Commercial Bank who was murdered on June 19 and one suspect in the case.Mr Quartey a retired officer of the Public Works Department was murdered on July 17.The Inspector General of Police, Patrick Kwarteng Acheampong, who disclosed this yesterday, however declined to disclose the names of the suspects citing security reasons.Mr Acheampong said, in the case of Mr Frimpong's murder, the Criminal Investigations Department in collaboration with a mobile phone service provider, monitored the calls made on Mr Frimpong's cell phone which the perpetrators took away.The four, he said were among 22 suspects earlier on arrested in both cases by a team of crack Police detectives and investigators from the CID in collaboration with the Tema Police.Acheampong said in an interrogation three of the four suspects allegedly admitted having a link to the murder Frimpong whiles one admitted having a link of Quartey's murder.He said that vital exhibits and clues found on the suspects have been sent to well equipped laboratories in Ghana and abroad for forensic examination.In one of the cases, he said, a reflector shirt which contained blood stains was also retrieved and sent for forensic examination. The IGP said preparations are being made to put the suspects before courtHe commended the team of crack Police officers for their good work which he described as a “considerable head way" to help get to the bottom of the case. Mr. Acheampong said the four have been arrested, the Police are continuing their search to apprehend more people who have been mentioned by the suspects.He appealed to the public to assist the Police and other security agencies to help fight organised crime by providing them with relevant information.He noted that the 230 million provided by the Ghana Commercial Bank as well as the 20 million by the police are ready and would be made available to people who will provide the police with relevant information leading to the resolution of the cases.Source: The Ghanaian Times
