Workers of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union were on Wednesday morning locked out of their offices at the Trades Union Congress offices. The beleaguered General Secretary of the ICU, Napoleon Kpoh, caused carpenters to nail braces across the doors late Tuesday night for what he said was an effort to secure the place. However, as at 9am on Wednesday, the offices were still under lock and Kpoh told Joy FM that he was responsible for the act.He told JOY FM’s Super Morning Show host, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah that an officer of the ICU, the Deputy General Secretary, Operations, Gilbert Awinogne ‘who is now calling himself chairman’ of the ICU was reported to have changed the existing locks on Monday and was keeping the keys all to himself.Kpoh said he was in the offices working late into the night (around 8pm) when the lights went off and therefore wanted to lock up the place to go home, however there were no keys to lock up the place while his calls to Gilbert were unanswered. He therefore requested the services of some carpenters to secure the place from any burglary.
