The UK Trade and Investment will be hosting a showcase on Aberdeen’s experience in the oil and gas sector at the British High Commission, Accra.
Aberdeen has grown from a fishing port in the 1960’s to a global centre of excellence in the oil and gas industry. In many ways, it can be used as the growth model for Ghana’s oil city, Sekondi-Takoradi.
UKTI will be hosting a consultant from Aberdeen City Council, Gordon McIntosh, who will talk extensively about the Aberdeen experience and also interact with stakeholders in Ghana’s oil and gas sector.
The showcase will be attended by top officials from the Ministries of Trade; Energy; Local government and rural development, Education and Transport.
Others will be from the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC), Ghana Petroleum Commission, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and the Ghana Gas Company.
Officials from Tullow Oil Ghana, will also make a presentation on the company’s future in oil and gas industry.
Whilst in Ghana, Gordon will also spend a few days with the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi and his team. In an advisory capacity, he will share with Metropolitan Assembly the challenges Aberdeen City Council had to overcome in developing the city with the growth of the North Sea oil industry.
The event is being sponsored by the UK Trade and Investment, which is dedicated to helping UK companies succeed in Ghana.
