Citi Business News has learnt that global advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi is about to locate an office in Ghana and this could have implications for its local partner Origin 8.
This could mean Origin 8 is likely to lose its partnership with Saatchi and Saatchi.
In 2005, Saatchi & Saatchi chose Origin8 as its agency in Ghana to take care of the creative needs and advertising responsibilities for Saatchi's prestigious clients in the country.
A sister company of Origin 8 ADspace DDB which is also under the Unicorn Group in a similar fashion lost its partnership with the Publicis, which eventually set up an office in Ghana.
It is unclear though whether the move by Saatchi & Saatchi to locate its office to Ghana is as a result of poor performance by Origin 8 or the seemingly huge business opportunities in the country are the driving factors.
Saatchi & Saatchi which is headquartered in New York operates 134 offices in 84 countries around the globe, and is staffed by more than 7,000 of the most creative minds in the industry.
Origin 8 was set up by Daniel Twum Jnr. but following his death, Mr. Joel Nettey took over as the Chief Executive Officer.
But board room wrangling eventually led to the termination of Mr. Nettey’s appointment late last year.
But the chips seem to be falling on the company.
Citi Business News checks at the company indicate that the biggest telecom operator in Ghana MTN is moving its ‘juicy’ account from Origin 8. Origin 8 has been running almost all of MTN’s communications and creative deals for some time now.
