Madam Agnes Sonful, a 56- year-old educationist with the Ghana Education Service, was over the weekend elected as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for the Amenfi West Constituency.
She polled 50 votes to defeat Evangelist Cynthia Aidoo, who received 39 votes.
Ms. Sonful thanked the delegates for voting for her and said the election had demonstrated the essence of democracy.
Mr. Padmore K. Y. Arthur, Western Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management organisation (NADMO) was acclaimed as the candidate for the Amenfi Central Constituency.Mr. Joseph B. Aidoo, a former Western Regional Minister, said the successive loses of the party in the constituency needed new strategies and ideas to enable the NPP win the seat.He said infighting among members of the party was not helpful and urged all supporters of the party to use dialogue in settling their differences.
Mr Arthur thanked the delegates and pledged to work hard to ensure the party's victory in election 2008.Source: GNA
