Mr. Kingsley Yaw Donyina, Techiman Municipal Chief Executive has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Techiman South constituency primaries with 91 votes out of 109 votes cast.
The other contestant, Mr. Kwabena Agyemang Badu, Municipal Director of Education, took 18 votes.
Addressing the delegates after the election Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi, Minister of Ports, Harbours and Railways, commended the delegates for comporting themselves during the election.
He told them to use refined language to win more supporters and to refrain from using provocative statements that would soil the image of the candidate and the party.
Prof Ameyaw-Ekumfi, who is contesting the Techiman North constituency seat, said the NPP was determined to take the Techiman North and Techiman South seats from the National Democratic Congress in election 2008.
Mr. Nicholas Asamoah, Brong-Ahafo Regional second vice-chairman of the NPP, appealed to the delegates, especially polling station assistants, to work hard to ensure victory for the party in the election.
Mr. Agyemang Badu said it would be dangerous for the constituency executives to attempt to woo the electorate with promises they could not fulfil because that would jeopardise the party's chances of winning the two seats.
Mr. Donyina appealed to NPP supporters to unite and expressed appreciation for the support given him.
