“You don’t need money to make money.” That is a philosophy shared by Sharon Lechter, author and philanthropist, famous for her role as co-author of the most revealing financial chronicle, Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
That philosophy appears to be at variance with a typical Ghanaian belief and myth which has an age-long adage - ‘y3di nam na eyi nam’ to tag along. To wit, it takes fish to catch a bigger fish, or better still you need money to make big money.
But for Sharon Lechter and her husband, Michael, who were the guest speakers at the 4th MTN Business World Executive Breakfast Meeting themed “Getting your finances right” money is good but definitely not a prerequisite to creating wealth.
The two in a seamless, scholarly and inspiring presentation schooled business executives, entrepreneurs on the rudiments yet difficult principles on wealth explosion and a simple drill on how to shake the devil off.
Michael Lechter, himself an author and lawyer stated emphatically that one does not necessarily need money to make money.
What one needs is the idea and Other People’s Money or Other People’s Resources to make money, he said, reinforcing the need and power of collaboration and cooperation.
With that collaboration 1+1 becomes 11 and not 2.
