Thomas Abbey is back at Hearts of Oak after his proposed move to South Africa fell through.
Abbey, 24, whose contract with Hearts expired at the end of last season, was on the brink of completing a transfer to Ajax Cape Town following trials.
But Ajax, for reasons yet to be known, failed to reach an agreement with Abbey to sign the contract.
And that has left Abbey with no choice than to start pre-season with the Phobians although he doesn’t have a contract.
“Thomas returned to training this morning and we are still in talks with his representatives on a contract renewal,” Hearts spokesperson Opare Addo said.
Abbey enjoyed a fruitful last season, netting 13 goals in the league as Hearts finished in the top four.
He also scored in the MTN FA Cup final but it was not enough to save Hearts from an embarrassing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Kotoko.
He was part of the Black Stars B team that won the 2017 WAFU tournament staged in Ghana.
