Beleaguered Deputy Chair of the Electoral Commission, Georgina Opoku Amankwah says will forcibly enter her office if she comes to find it locked by the officials from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

Her warning comes after EOCO officials tried to throw her out of her office when she reported for work after almost seven months out of office on interdiction directed by EOCO.

Mrs. Opoku Amankwah for hours on Thursday stood in defiance against armed personnel from the EOCO, insisting that EOCO cannot exercise any power to deny her use of her office.

Adamant, the Deputy Chair locked the officers out for hours, insisting that only the President, Nana Akufo-Addo has the power to stop her from going to work.

Heavily armed police officers from the Rapid Response Unit stormed Opoku Amankwah's office Monday.

 JoyNews Latiff Idrisu who broke the news Thursday asked Mrs Amakwah what her reaction will be if she comes back to work the next day to see her office locked.

“I will break into it if that happens. I’m not destroying public property…A whole Chief Justice committee chaired by a Supreme Court Judge is served with the matter so what is EOCO?” she quizzed.

She argued that the matter before the C.J’s committee is one that involves all three Executive Commissioners including herself; therefore, it would be discriminatory for anyone to stop her from working while the others are still in office.

“So what myself and my lawyers are saying is that…it is the president who is clothed with that authority, so I’m back here, if the President writes that we should go home why not,” she maintained.

Meanwhile, Mrs Opoku Amankwaah has reached an agreement with EOCO to stay away from her office for 14 days, when EOCO would be expected to to complete their findings into allegations of financial impropriety made against her.

The announcement was made to the media present at the EC premises, after a closed-door meeting following the chaos.

The Deputy EC Chair and two other colleagues, the chairperson of the EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei and Deputy in charge of Operations Amadu Sulley are all subjects of investigation and possible impeachment.
