Management of consumer goods company - PZ Cussons Ghana is assuring of a professional and fair redundancy programme in its plans to shut down its soap manufacturing plant.
The closure due to happen by December this year is part of its parent company strategy to reduce its operational costs.
The company has assured the move would not affect the supply and prices of their soap products. The Managing Director, Jim Judson again says consultations are underway towards an even-handed redundancy programme for the workers to be affected.
“The number of people affected by that change will be worked on over the coming months. This will be with the Workers’ Union during the consultation period. It means that the process of agreeing to who is affected and how many are affected just started” he noted.
“It will undoubtedly mean that there will be redundancy but the numbers affected we cannot confirm until we finish that process which is beginning now with the Union and will take a number of months as we follow due process” he concluded.
