The Leadership for Conversation in Africa (LCA)-Ghana Chapter held a cocktail meeting last Thursday to woo stakeholders to share in the vision of their Shai Hills Conservation project and take steps to commit organisational and individual resources towards it.The project, upon completion, is expected to serve purposes including; cultural & environmental conservation, game viewing, an educational hub, family outings, corporate and private getaway, and conferencing.The purpose of the event, held at the Movenpick Hotel, was to create awareness amongst the various stakeholders and solicit their support for the project. It brought together top level executives of selected corporate organisations and institutions.Dr. Gwendolyn Wellmann, Head of Sustainable Development for Gold Fields West Africa Operations, appealed to stakeholders to support LCA-Ghana and be part of the initiative to develop and conserve the Shai Hills Resource Reserve.“This is an effort towards the conservation of our environment and nature which will have multiple benefits for us and generations to come,” She emphasised.
Dr. Gwendolyn implored them to participate in the initiative and make a commitment to realise the project’s vision, revealing a proposed website of LCA-Ghana Chapter will be launched shortly.The LCA-Ghana chapter was established in 2006 in collaboration with the Forestry Commission of Ghana, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and certain corporate organisations led by Gold Fields Ghana.
