Mobile telephone network, Tigo has outdoored the first ever unlimited time-based internet prepaid service at a short ceremony in Accra.
The consumer-oriented internet plan would allow internet users of all categories to subscribe the internet on time basis and not per the volume of data they use at a time.
Acting General Manager of Tigo, Obafemi Banigbe told the media the unlimited time based internet plan is a marked departure from what pertains in the industry in which internet subscribers are forced to think about the data they are uploading or downloading and how fast their credits would run out.
With the Tigo innovation, subscribers would just have to choose the length of period to subscribe- daily, weekly, or monthly- and are free to browse, download or upload any data of their choice no matter the megabyte.
“We are going to be the first operator in this market that will offer this kind of packages out there. Every other package you have there is volume based, meaning that you can buy one megabyte, five megabytes, 100 megabytes in which the subscriber does not know the difference because not everybody is an IT engineer,” he stated, adding “it’s a one-time fixed fee package with no browsing limitations within the time duration subscribed to.”
“With this unlimited internet plan… our subscribers can read the news, search on google, listen to music, watch videos, download and stream movies and not bother about their internet volume finishing,” he added.
The innovation, he said, is to meet the demanding needs of subscribers and to simplify the day-to-day use of the internet.
The offer he added is high speed and at the most affordable rates with the daily subscription fee going for less than one cedi and the monthly subscription less than forty cedis.
Banigbe made a pledge to Ghanaians: "We are set to position the Tigo brand as the preferred internet service provider for the people of Ghana and we are committed to delivering high quality service to all our customers. Where we fall short of this goal, we will work tirelessly to ensure that we address whatever challengers they are."
