Vodafone Ghana says huge investments in the fight against SIM-box fraud are yielding significant results. Telcos are investing heavily in ICT mechanisms to aid them track and clamp down on the SIM-card fraudsters.
Speaking to Joy Business at the Telecoms Chamber’s “Telecom Industry Knowledge Forum”, Director of Corporate Integrity and Risk at Vodafone Ghana, Ashley Ratcliffe noted they are committing more investment to stamp out the menace.
“We’ve invested heavily technology. We’ve invested well over half a million Ghana cedis in the last two years with regards to upgrading our technology. We have taken it a step further” he said.
“Rather than being reactive to SIM-box we are investing a lot of time into detecting where the criminals are working from and then we are working closely with the Ghana police, National Security and the NCA to make sure they are arrested and brought to justice and the equipments seized” he added.
