Ghana Commercial Bank, GCB is yet to find replacements for two of its female board members who resigned last month.
Lauretta Lamptey, Head of Anti Corruption agency, CHRAJ was compelled to quit the GCB Board in April. This was after intense pressure from group Forum for Public Accountability, on grounds her presence on the board amounted to a conflict of interest.
Two weeks ago, Chair at National Commission for Civic Education,Charlotte Osei also resigned. Reasons for her resignation are unclear. What is clear however is that the two females who resigned were both heads of public institutions serving on the GCB board.
Meanwhile, Auditing firm, Price Water House Coopers last month released a survey suggesting that very few women occupy top positions in corporate Ghana. The resignation of these two females may therefore just deal a further blow to the quest to increase female visibility on the corporate ladder.
Others members of GCB’s board include Dr. Fritz Amegasie Gockel (Board Chairman) Simon Dornoo (Managing Director), Samuel Amankwah (Deputy Management Director-Finance), Samuel Sarpong (Deputy Managing Director-Operation), Mrs Adelaide Mary Benneth, Joshua K. Peprah and Elliot Gordor.
