A 20 year old man at Nkawie-Kubin, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region has cut off his penis in a bizarre suicide attempt.
Ernest Obeng is alleged to have earlier attempted committing suicide by hanging but relatives intervened. He later slashed off his own penis with a knife just when his brother went inside to get help from an uncle.
Ernest was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital where he is receiving treatment. His brother, Kwame Ntim told XYZ News he noticed Ernest was not alright when he accompanied him to join a vehicle.
Kwame Ntim said on reaching home, he realized that his brother was wielding a knife threatening to stab himself and after failing to overpower him, he rushed to seek help from an uncle.
When they returned to the room, Ernest Obeng had cut off his manhood and was hanging on a rope.
