The statement added that whiles students offering Bachelor of Science degree at the Accra City Campus paid GH¢880 (¢8.8 million), their counterparts at the Legon Campus paid GH¢1,600 (¢16 million). The statement which was in reaction to some concerns raised in the media on the subject of fees paid by students of the Accra City Campus of the University of Ghana said the University of Ghana clearly stated in the advertisements put out for the information of prospective students that the Accra City Campus was a fee-paying and non-residential facility. It said students were made aware of that information prior to making their decision to pursue studies at the Accra City Campus and pointed out that through the Accra City Campus, the University was “addressing a felt, but hardly considered need in the society, by providing education at the convenience of recipients and in so doing, widening access to University education”.
