Figures from a reliable source on the current status of the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in Ghana exclusively available to Adom News indicate Tigo is the highest net winner with more than 43,000 ports on the balance sheet for Tigo.This means a balance between how many people have ported out of Tigo and how many have ported in showed that between July 2011, when MNP was launched, and May 2012, Tigo finished with more than 43,000 ports on the positive side of the balance sheet.This is higher than that of Vodafone, which came second with a little over 39,000 ports also on the positive side.Vodafone had initially taken the lead with about 50% of the total number of successful ports going its way within about the first month of the launch of MNP.Airtel also showed about 10,000 on the positive side of the balance sheet, while recently launched Glo is also almost 100 ports to its network.But Expresso and MTN showed negative returns on the balance sheet. Expresso showed over 500 ports on the negative side, while market leader MTN showed over 100,000 also on the negative side.This means more than a 100,000 more people have ported out of MTN than those who have ported in between July 2011 and May this year.MTN had said it is targeting 950,000 customers this year alone, and stated that it had what it took to fend off Glo’s possible threat to its target.Meanwhile, the company also reported that over 21,000 customers were deactivated in the recent SIM registration exercise, representing 2% of its customer base, but it also gained some 2.3% additional customers in the first quarter of this year.Tigo is leading the MNP race, but the company has been losing subscribers since October 2011, from over four million customers then, to 3.3 million as of first quarter, March 31, 2012.Currently the total number of successful ports is over 300,000.
