There are calls for the National Communications Authority, NCA to regulate mobile application services given the surge in the use of smart-phones in the country.
Such phones come with hi-tech and internet-based applications which support services such as map-directions, text-chatting as well as voice and video calls at very low-cost.
But Telecoms Analyst, Fouad Chalabi tells JOY BUSINESS, only clear-cut policies could ensure subscribers derive maximum benefits from these applications.
“Nowadays there are a lot of content providers on a different scale and these companies are sometimes faced with a lot of challenges. This is because with some of the service they want to offer, the mobile-operators who have the upper hand limit them in their their content on their network" he noted.
"So there should be certain legislation or standard protocols about who should do what in this sector” he concluded.
