Mobile phone manufacturer, Samsung has started engaging some local IT firms to localize some of its applications.Concerns have been raised about hi-tech applications on smart phones limited to developed markets. This makes most mobile phone users in Africa unable to fully utilize their handsets.
But Senior Sales Manager for Samsung West Africa, Ryan Na says users of their brand should expect this to be addressed in a few months time.
He was speaking to Joy Business at the pre-launch of the company’s new Galaxy S-3.
“We are going to specially build for Africa products. For example in Ghana we are looking forward to partner local content providers which will enable the user to download local music. The second will be a navigation application on our premium smartphones just for Africa. Currently in Africa, we don’t have specific navigation application built for the African market. So you can actually use that devise for navigation purposes in your car” he noted.
