The Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC has described KOSMOS Energy’s decision to suspend its listing on the Ghana Stock Exchange as disturbing.JOYBUSINESS has learnt that the oil exploration and production firm has deferred the move to next year.Director- General of SEC, Adu Anane Antwi tells JOYBUSINESS, the company’s listing would have added a lot to the country’s capital market.
Kosmos was hoping to raise some 50 million dollars through the Public Offer. It would have been the second oil exploration company to list on the stock exchange after Tullow Oil.Sources say difficulties associated with securing the necessary approvals as well as some legal issues emanating from its recent listing on the New York Stock Exchange could have influenced their decision.Mr. Anane Antwi however says the company’s decision had nothing to do with regulatory challenges.
