The Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress Kofi Asamoah has expressed regrets with the increasing spate of agitations by workers in the country.He blamed the phenomenon on officialdom who he claimed poured invectives on workers instead of resolving their grievances.Kofi Asamoah was speaking at the 11th quadrennial congress of the Maritime and Dock Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress at Winneba.His comments come in the face of strike by POTAG who are protesting delays in their migration onto the new pay policy.Kofi Asamoah maintained job security for workers still remains one of the key concerns of the TUC.He lamented the increasing rate at which the rights of workers are trampled upon despite the many laws passed on the labour front.The Vice President John Mahama led a high powered government delegation to the Congress in solidarity with workers and to find challenges workers face and how to resolve them.Joy News’ Anny Osabutey who accompanied the Vice President reported him as saying government will do everything possible to shore up the cedi which is falling at a faster rate.Commenting on the Tema Shipyard dry-dock, John Mahama said the government will ensure the company is on a sound footing.He also assured of a free and fair elections in December.The Congress ends on Thursday.
