Reigning WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (54-2-2, 38 KOs) lost a highly controversial twelve round split decision against unbeaten WBO jr welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (29-0, 12 KOs) on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Pacman landed some good straight lefts early on.
Bradley worked hard but landed at a low percentage. Manny’s superior firepower continued to dominate while Bradley’s punches had little effect. Bradley was willing to trade, often to his detriment. There were no knockdowns in the bout.
To his credit, 4:1 underdog Bradley showed incredible grit and determination especially considering he injured both ankles in the bout. Pacquiao outlanded Bradley 190-108 in power punches and the scores of 115-113, 115-113 Bradley, 115-113 Pacquiao were shocking and greeted with boos from the 14,206 in attendance.
There is already talk of a rematch on November 10.
