ACTIVA International Insurance Company Limited has presented a cheque for GH¢30,000 towards the organization of the 2018 SWAG awards ceremony scheduled to take place at the Accra International Conference Centre, Accra on Friday, 5th May 2018.
The presentation was done by the MD/CEO of Activa International Insurance Company and was received by SWAG President, Mr. Kwabena Yeboah, in the presence of Mr. Oheneba Charles-SWAG Patron, Rosalind Amoh-SWAG Treasurer, Mr. Willie Ezah-SWAG General Secretary, Mr. Benjamin Yamoah-the Chief Operating Officer of Activa, members of SWAG and the media, at the boardroom of ACTIVA International Insurance on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
The MD/CEO of Activa International Insurance Company Limited, Mr Solomon Lartey in his address said as part of his company’s corporate social responsibility activities, Activa international insurance has for the past six years supported the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) in the organization of its awards.
The Activa boss continued that, “Sports has always played a critical role in the unity of our country, and especially, on a day like this when political actors are up in arms against each other and the media is awash with claims and counterclaims, we want to use this opportunity to inform our young people that there are more that unite us as a nation than divide us. And, for the unemployed youth out there, I throw this challenge to you that insurance offers fantastic opportunities for self-employment. Our Agency business development team is available to assist people who want to start a self-employment career in insurance”.
“In 2017 alone, Activa International Insurance spent close to 2% of its Premium Income on CSR activities to support AGI awards, SME Ghana Awards, Presenting equipment to the Children’s block of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, among others. It is, however, worrying that organization like this with 100% of its personnel being Ghanaian, should suffer discrimination in accessing local business; especially when the only thing foreign about the company is the capital that was invested in Ghana by some foreign generous businessmen”, Mr Lartey bemoaned.
Receiving the cheque, Mr. Kwabena Yeboah said, “The ritualistic nature of the relationship between SWAG and ACTIVA International Insurance hinges on the fact that Activa International Insurance remains one of the corporate bodies that not only accommodate the vision of SWAG but remains strictly committed to giving back to society; in our specific case, through the sponsorship of our tireless sportsmen and women.
