They have rocked stages, pulled massive crowds and entertained people with lyrics, acts and skills that they believe led many astray. Today, the superstars of our time are retracting and regretting their past, proclaiming their new found love for Christ and drawing others closer to God. An evening of inspiring and life-changing testimonies within an atmosphere of great worship it was at the Winners Worship Centre in Kumasi, during the inauguration of the Stars Fellowship, an initiative of the New Lord Kenya Outreach Ministries and Bernard Owusu Ansah Ministries. Ghanaian movie and music icons as well as media and sports personalities had a moment of spiritual encounter and awakening with some great Ministers of the Gospel. Hi-life sensation, Ofori Amponsah, sang praises and testified of his Christian calling at Abeka Pentecost in 1994 but he fell along the line – when he should have enrolled in the seminary. But like the prodigal son, Ofori has retraced his way back to Christ. Agyemang Duah mocked the ‘stupidity’ of bearing the name ‘Lazy Dog’ during his hay days as a member of the hiplife group, Ancestors, and rejoiced for the rediscovery of his being. “The Devil can lead you to smear your body with mud and rejoice in your filth but glory be to God that the living Lord will change your name and put new cloth on you”, he exclaimed. Apostle Prah, renowned for his passion in realistic ministration in movies, noted that stardom can be maintained; stating that rising from grace to grace will require absolute dependence on God. Rev. Azigiza Junior also encouraged and entreated the stars to use their popularity to reach out to ‘the lost’, whilst glorifying God with their talents. “How is God benefitting from the gift He’s given to you”, he queried. “If you’re a born-again and you’re a rapper, you can rap to bring people to God. If you’re born again and you’re a movie star and there is a way you can bring people to God, why don’t you do it? As I’m playing my football, is it glorifying my God and bringing people to the Kingdom of God?” Moses OK thrilled patrons with some of his heavenly melodies, paving way for the new Lord Kenya to unveil his commitment to the Lord’s work, two years after being born-again. Holland-based Bishop Bernard Owusu Ansah has opted to support Evangelist Kenyah in his ministry and mentor others to succeed in their Christian journey. According to him, people are struggling for something in life, yet do not know what they want. Drawing an analogy from the life of the Biblical Solomon, the Bishop observed the vanity of money, knowledge and fame but extolled the importance of worshipping the Lord in stardom. The Stars Fellowship aims at offering a platform for entertainment and public personalities to meet regularly to share in testimonies, the Word of God and pray for healthy relationship, better management of finances and strength in service to God and humanity. The Ministry will also reach out to fans of the icons in schools and communities to save and touch lives. The maiden ‘Stars Supper’ event attracted personalities like Nana Ama Mcbrown, Naana Hayford Domfeh, Omar Sharif Captan and former Asante Kotoko Captain, Godwin Ablordey. Ministers present included Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng (PIWC) and Apostle Samson Offen and Rev. Mark Boakye.
