Zulfawu Salifu, a 22 year old university graduate, beat three other finalists to emerge as the Season 2 Grand Prize winner of the Goodlife Game Show. Ms. Salifu took home GH¢5,000 and other Goodlife souvenirs.
The Goodlife Game Show is part of the Ghana Health Service’s (GHS) “Goodlife, Live it Well” campaign supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with technical support from USAID’s Behavior Change Support (BCS) Project.
The Game Show is an entertaining and educational blend of multimedia and health information quizzes to promote learning about health issues and encourage good health practices that will enable people to fully enjoy what they value and cherish in life.
Welcoming contestants and audience at the Grand Finale, Dr Frank Nyonator, Acting Director General of the Ghana Health Service, encouraged all Ghanaians to learn more about simple things they can do to protect themselves and their loved ones from disease. He expressed gratitude to USAID and the BCS project for their support in making learning about health more fun.
The Goodlife campaign was launched in November 2010 to promote healthier lifestyles among Ghanaians. The campaign consists of sub-campaigns including the Child Nutrition Food Super Heroes, Malaria (Aha ye de), and Life Choices Family Planning campaigns.
This final episode of Season 2 of the Game Show marked the end of 13 weeks of health education and fun. Stiff competition occurred among contestants with winners walking away with weekly cash prizes of GH¢1,000. The format of the competition sees five lucky texters selected each week to compete while viewers at home participated by answering ‘Weekly viewer choice questions’ to the game’s short code 1759. Season 3 will soon start.
