The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority and others have been cited for contempt after failing to comply with court orders issues last year.Alex Mould as well as Ato Ampiah, Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery failed to refund an estimated ¢800 million of illegal fuel price margins into the consolidated fund as directed by the court. The court upheld a suit filed by Development Data, Policy Research and Advocacy led by New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi Kweku Kwarteng and Abdul Ganiyu in which they challenged the legality of the ex-refinery differential being charged on every gallon of petrol by the NPA.The court on November 28, 2011, described the ex-refinery levy as illegal and directed the NPA and TOR to desist from charging consumers with the levy. The court also directed the two institutions to pay an accumulated amount of ¢800 million which was accrued from the levy back into the consolidated fund.Several months after the court’s order, the respondents are yet to obey, forcing the plaintiff to cite them for contempt. The plaintiffs have therefore cited the NPA boss Alex Mould for willfully violating the judgement of the court.A copy of the motion intercepted by Joy Business named Ato Ampiah, Tema Oil Refinery as well as the NPA as the other respondents. The contempt case is expected to be heard on June 27, 2012.
