The International Amateur boxing Association has invited the Ghana National Boxing team for a three-week intensive program in Cardiff, Wales ahead of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The program dubbed Road to Dream Final Camp will run from July 5 to 24 and this forms part of the international boxing federation’s effort to help member federations lacking funds to train and send boxers to major AIBA competitions and the Olympic Games.
Ghana has decided to send all four Olympic-qualifier boxers and two coaches to the program.
According to Head coach of the Black Bombers team Ofori Asare, this programme will enhance their medal winning chances.
“We will be exposed to the facilities and equipments and also get to understand the federation before the Games”. He told JOY Sports
“We want to take advantage of this and expose the boys more to the kind of boxers they will meet at the Olympics”.
It is envisaged that both boxers and coaches will learn useful tips from experienced AIBA instructors. Each team will take along its training program to Cardiff, and AIBA will assign its Head Coach and two Assistant Coaches to assist participants training program.
