Former Black stars player Yaw Preko has become the first Ghanaian footballer to admit he never played with his right age as professional footballer.Yaw Preko, a member of the 1991 Black starlets team which won the FIFA Under-17 World cup in Italy in an interview with JOY Sports revealed that, the then footballers administrators were the ones who determined their ages.“At our time, it was the FA that gave you the age. You go with your colt’s card, and they take two or three years out of it.”“I didn’t play with my right age during my career”.“We’ve all cheated. South America, Asia, there is no country that brings the right age,” he said.“We were able to reduce it to the right age that is why I was able to play 17 years in Europe.”The former Standard Liege player who is now coach of a third division side Westlandes FC has welcomed the use of technology to authenticate correct ages of players for age-categorized competitions organized by FIFA.
