Stone Strong Lager, one of the flagship beer brands from Accra Brewery Limited (ABL), has won another Gold Award in recognition of its consistency in taste and superior quality, at the Monde Selection Awards in Athens, Greece earlier this month. A statement from ABL said this is the second consecutive year that Stone Strong Lager has won a Monde Gold, thereby confirming the endorsement of the world’s most prestigious quality awards institute. “Stone Stronger Larger, which is specially made for urban males celebrating achievements and inner strength, was the only Ghanaian beer brand to have ever won a Monde quality award,” it said. Monde Selection is an independent international Institute for Quality Selections, founded in 1961 in Brussels, Belgium. It is reputed to be the oldest and most representative organizations in the field of product quality selection in the world, attracting nearly 3,000 entries from some 80 countries from every continent around the globe this year. The statement said Stone Strong Lager was selected for the award by a jury of Monde Selections, and judges made up of experts in brewing and fermentation technology , professional tasters and chemical engineers, most of whom have been participating in the selection process for over 25 years. It quoted ABL Managing Director, Greg Metcalf, as saying: “The Gold Award is an endorsement of the taste and quality of Stone Strong Lager. Winning it for the second consecutive year is a testimony of our consistency in this regard.” In an interview with Adom News, Sales Development Manager of ABL Kwamena Odame Lartson said Stone Strong Larger had been doing well on the Ghanaian market since its introduction in 2005. “Stone is yet to go international, but in Ghana it has easily become the alcoholic beverage of choice and Ghanaians easily request for it at every social function.” He said plans were afoot to celebrate the award with Ghanaians in a big way, with very rewarding promotions targeted at achievers in the various communities, adding that there would be big ‘Stone Raves’ in various communities where lots of bottles of the drink would be available on special offer. Mr. Lartson however cautioned that people should be circumspect in the consumption of the drink and persons below 18 years were also not allowed to consume it. “We want Ghanaians to consume just enough Stone and be happy but not to behave untowardly and to harm their health. It is important to us that our customers remain health and steady after consuming Stone,” he said.
