Manchester City's Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Abu on Tuesday welcomed a possible loan move to Belgium's Anderlecht, who expressed interest in signing the youngster.
"I know Anderlecht have been to watch me," Abu was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
"I hope I can convince them to take me because I will soon be returning to Manchester."
The 20-year-old midfielder, who joined Manchester City on 2010, had two loan spells with Norwegian side Stromgodset as he sought to gain experience of first-team football.
Abu, who was part of Ghana' squad for the African Nations Cup earlier this year, has two years remaining on his contract with the English champions.
"They (City) want me to play in a stronger league and speed up my development," he added.
"There have been Dutch teams in the stands, and Spanish and Scottish teams are also interested, but Anderlecht would be a nice opportunity.
"I don't know their players, but I know that they are a team that challenges for the title every year and compete in Europe."
Abu would have the chance to play in the prestigious European Champions League if he moved to Anderlecht, who won the Belgian league title last season.
