Players in Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry are increasingly eyeing the Ashanti region to maximize profits in oil marketing.
The number of fuel service stations has risen sharply in recent times as investors and oil marketing companies get attracted to sell high volumes on the local market.
Petroleum retail firm, Modex Oil Company has opened its biggest service station in Kumasi, bringing the company’s network of fuel stations in the country to 27.
General Manager in-charge of Operations, Stephen Ansah Adu, says the company is taking advantage of the newly constructed Asokwa by-pass to attract patronage on the stretch of road.
According to him, the high volumes of transport activities in mining, timber and agricultural sectors make Ashanti an attractive market for fuel retailing.
“You realize that more diesel is being consumed in the Ashanti region than elsewhere is the country, so we’re only trying to strategize in such a way we will increase our volume and market share in the industry”, he told Luv Biz Report.
Mr. Ansah Adu noted that five years after venturing the oil industry, Modex is positioned to offer the best of services to motorists.
The oil marketing company plans to be present in all regions of the country within the next two years.
