The NADMO official in the Builsa district who is alleged to have stolen relief items meant for victims of the recent floods in the north is to be prosecuted.Speaking to Joy News on Thursday September 27, 2007, Interior Minister, Kwamena Bartels said Mr. Nyaba Agambila will be prosecuted for stealing.Mr. Agambila who has subsequently resigned from the NADMO is alleged to have stolen 30 bags of rice, 24 lanterns, 75 drinking cups and 74 plates some of which were said to have been retrieved from his corner shop in Bolgatanga.Mr. Agambila has however, denied the allegations against him and said he does not own any shop in Bolga. He told Joy News that he has been traumatized by the allegations and has therefore been advised not to talk to the media. He was grateful to Joy FM for being the first radio station to have called to talk to him to get his side of the story. He said he has been subjected to media prosecution. But when Mr. Bartels was asked why Mr. George Isaac Amoo, the National Coordinator of NADMO has not been prosecuted yet for his alleged involvement in a more serious offence costing the nation about ¢2 billion in one instance, including the fact that some of the food items he bought without recourse to the appropriate Board were expired, the minister again, declined to comment.Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Bawku Central Mahama Ayariga, has questioned the rational behind prosecuting Mr. Agambila for a lesser crime and reassigning Mr. Amoo for a crime that has cost the state billions of cedis including the purchasing of expired rice.
