Listed companies will soon be able to file their statements to regulators and their shareholders through an internet based-system.
The electronic reporting system will replace the current scheme where were companies file their statements and prospectus manually.
The initiative is part of efforts by managers of the capital markets to improve disclosure by companies on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Adu Anane-Antwi disclosed this to JOYBUSINESS at meeting with listed companies.
“This initiative would allow the companies file their annual reports, quaretly reports or prospectus etc and the SEC picks up and they would’nt need to move to our offices to file” he noted.
He adds companies who fail to comply with disclosure rules would soon be dealt with.
“If you are required to disclose and you don’t, you have flouted a provision in the law and if there is an applicable penalty for that it would be applied” he said.
