The Faculty of Business Administration, Pentecost University College on Wednesday night launched a business journal aimed at providing a medium to share best practices and improve business management in the country.
Professor Bosiako Omane-Antwi, Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty said the journal was to serve as a vehicle to enable the University to attain its vision of imparting knowledge to ensure efficiency in business management practices.
He said the journal, packed with illustrations and write-ups on various issues related to business and the economy, would also reflect on the past, present and future of business management.
Dr Afua Hesse, a Pediatric Surgeon at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in her keynote address said such publications had become necessary in the country at a time when global records had shown that Ghana was among the best-governed states in Africa.
"Journals like this would therefore help us to share ideas on ways to develop our entrepreneurial skills, which will help in the improvement of the economy", she added.
She urged the editorial board to ensure that the journal was produced in plain language for easy understanding and educate the public more on business management ethics.
Dr. Michael Agyekum-Addo, Chief Executive Officer, Kama Group of Companies said there was the need for Ghanaians to stop giving unnecessary excuses for any unproductive action, since that was retarding development.
He said it was unfortunate to hear people using rainfall, sickness, and family engagements to defend themselves when serious issues were at stake.
Dr. Agyekum-Addo, who is also a member of the University's Council urged the students to make good use of the journal, saying, "you must adapt, adopt and improve".
Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, Rector, was optimistic that the journal would become one of the best in the country.
The first copy was auctioned for GH¢550 (¢5.5 million).
