Since Michael Owen was released by Man United earlier in the summer the 32 year old striker has been linked with interest from a number of sides, most prominently Stoke City, as well as a move to the MLS but as yet the former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Newcastle United man is still to sign a deal. A move to Everton would surely tempt Owen, not least because he is a Toffees fan, but also because it would mean retaining his place in the top tier. Michael Owen struggled with injuries during his three year stint at Man United but when fit and called upon the striker was fairly prolific, netting 17 goals in 52 appearances, with 34 of those coming from the bench. David Moyes may well be keen to beef up his attacking options which currently include former Rangers pair Nikica Jelavic and Steven Naismith as well as the less than prolific back-up options of Victor Anichebe, Magaye Gueye and Apostolos Vellios. Everton have had to over-rely on goals from their midfield in recent seasons and therefore a move to increase their firepower would be a sensible one.
