A topnotch oil and gas expert and international Consultant, Ms. Lois Laraba Machunga-Disu, will make a public presentation in Ghana for the first time and is expected to share major policy directions on Oil and Gas sector.
A statement issued by Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC) and signed by its Founder and President, Andy Osei Okrah said Lois Laraba will be addressing young professionals, the business community and policy makers on Oil and Gas good governance, opportunities and prospects on July 19th in Accra.
The event is the Quarterly Transformational Seminar series organized by Young Professional and Youth Coalition (YPYC), an organization seeking transformational leadership and youth empowerment in Africa.
The statement said Lois Laraba Machunga-Disu is the founder and Chief Executive of JALZ Energy Limited, based in Abuja Nigeria providing energy services in strategy consulting, technical services and oil & gas operating company, a company that has interest and is involved in Licencing Rounds. Lois has over thirty (30) years total energy industry related experience and extensive & intensive training, both in Upstream and Downstream petroleum sector with 21 years spent with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), occupying various staff functions.
According to the statement Lois will speak on the topic “Leveraging Governance Reforms in the Oil and Gas Sector to Accelerate National Economic Growth”.
She will unearth the hidden treasures and secrets in the Energy business and specifically focus on policies and strategies that could create new job and business opportunities in the oil and gas sector for the youth, young entrepreneur, professionals and the business community.
Lois advises the Nigerian Government on Energy and a Consultant to the Oil & Gas Policy Commission of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG). She supports development agencies in Nigeria such as DFID, FOSTER, Heinrich Böll Foundation (HBS) among others.
She is a member of the Presidential Standing Committee on Resource Mobilization for National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (NEEDS), Presidential Sub-Committee on Restructuring, Constitution and Capitalization of the new National Oil Company (NAPCON) and its subsidiaries, which produced the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) in Nigeria.
She is currently a member of the Petroleum Ministerial Taskforce on the Governance and Control for all institutions of the PIB, 2012. Lois is a member of the Institute of Petroleum, UK, Publicity Secretary (founding member), Nigerian Gas Association, 1999, Member of Chamber of Shippers and the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE).
She has worked in various international offices in Japan with JGC, Yokoma on new Port Harcourt Refinery Project and in the USA on major joint interest E & P development projects such as; Mobil's Oso Condensates Development Project with Flour Daniels, Houston and Hudson Engineering-McDermott in Houston; Mobil’s 6-Wellhead Platform Projects with Petro-Marine Engineering, Houston; Mobil's Ubit Expansion Project with Waldarmar S. Nelson, New Orleans; Chevron's Escravos Gas Projects with Chevron Overseas, Houston; and member of the Management Team for Shell’s Gas gathering Project in Houston, USA.
She is a graduate from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria; and post-graduate Management Science at Imperial College, London, UK; and the Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Petroleum Management - with specialization in Refining, Trading, Supply, Distribution & Gas Management at the College of Petroleum Studies, Oxford, U.K.
The statement further indicated that the Deputy Minister of Energy in charge of Petroleum, Hon Emmanuel Armah Buah will also address participants on the topic “Ghana`s Oil and Gas industry in the Next 30 years, Prospects, Opportunities and Challenges”. The seminar under the chairmanship of Mohammed Amin Adam Ahata, Energy Economist will attract a lot of young professionals, industry players and high profile personalities to share knowledge and learn new things.
