Mobile operator, Tigo is the biggest gainer in the Mobile Number Portablity, a year since the implementation of the exercise.
According to figures released by National Communication Authority today, a total of about 370 thousand subscribers have switch networks so far.
Tigo led the pack with about 68 thousand subscribers followed by Vodafone which captured 43 thousand.
Tigo’s Marketing Manager Tenu Awoonor spoke to JOY BUSINESS about the possible underlying factors for this development and what it means for their operations.
“We’ve always known that and so I think it only validates claim in the market to have the best quality and credit that lasts longer because like you know Mobile Number Portability is something subscribers choose.
"So I think these two things offer value to subscribers who have noticed it and are switching to Tigo in their numbers as indicated in the figures" he said.
Latest entrant, GLO added 7,500 subscribers to its network and Airtel also 6,800. Market leader, MTN lost 125 thousand subscribers whilst CDMA operator, EXPRESSO also lost 418.
A year after implementing Mobile Number Portability, Ghana’s porting time is also said to be the fastest in the world with an average of 7 minutes.
