An Accra Fast Track High Court has fixed July 25 to hear a motion to place an injunction on the creation of new constituencies and a declaration of newly created district assemblies as null and void.
The case was adjourned because the trial judge, His Lordship Dennis Adjei was unavailable.
Four private citizens have sued the Electoral Commission and the Attorney General over attempts to announce new constituencies after the creation of new districts they say is illegal.
Already, former Attorney General, Nii Ayikoi Otoo who is representing another group, the Concerned Ghanaians also suing the Electoral Commission on the same matter has told Joy News he intends to cite the Commissioners for contempt next Monday.
But lawyer for the four private citizens, Frank Davies says he won’t be surprised if Parliament is also cited for contempt for going ahead Wednesday to lay the constitutional instrument on the creation of the new constituencies.
Present in court was 2nd deputy speaker of parliament Prof. Mike Ocquaye and his son Mike Ocquaye Junior.
