The Government of Ghana has promised Team Ghana some mouth watering medal bonuses at the London 2012 Olympic Games due to start officially today.
Most Ghanaians have always raised eyebrows on how other athletes are motivated in terms of winning bonuses as compared to that of football but this announcement is expected to quell that long standing notion.
According to the Sports Ministry, athletes will take $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000 for Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively.
The Sports Ministry believes this mouth watering bonuses will motivate Team Ghana to rise to the occasion and do mother Ghana proud.
The athletes consist of three track and field athletes, four boxers, a judoka and one weightlifter.
Sprinter, Vida Anim, will be making her fourth appearance at the games hoping to reach the final stages after three failed attempts. Margaret Simpson and Ignatius Gaisah are the other two qualified athletes.
The four boxers to represent Ghana are Duke Micah, Isaac Dogboe, Sulemanu Tetteh and Maxwell Amponsah.
Judoka Emmanuel Nartey and Alberta Ampomah complete the list of athletes for Judo and Weightlifting events respectively.
