Tigo Ghana says it top performance in Mobile Number Portability (MNP) was a result of its recent offers aimed at giving consumers value for money.Tigo emerged the biggest gainer in MNP with over 68,000 subscribers on the positive side of the National Communication Authority’s (NCA) MNP balance sheet, which showed there were 370,107 total number of ports across networks.Vodafone was second with over 43,000 gain, followed by Glo with over 7,500 and Airtel with 6,800 gain. But Expresso made a net loss of 415, while market leader MTN ended as the biggest net loser of over 125,000 subscribers.A statement signed by Tigo Ghana Head of Marketing, Tenu Awoonor noted that the gain was a clear manifestation of the “exceptional quality of service we offer our customers.”“We believe that this success has been as a result of the tremendous benefits we offer consumers, some of which include quality network operation, lower tariffs, product bonuses, unlimited internet accesses and credits that last longer which results in enhanced value for money to all Tigo users.”Tenu Awoonor said Tigo remained the most preferred mobile network with quality products and services based on affordability, accessibility and availability.
He said some of Tigo’s products and services include Tigo SOS, Tigo cash , Tigo Life Insurance, Tigo Voice SMS, IDD calls, Free night calls, ring-back-tones, and the unprecedented 3Gp per minute on-net call tariff, amongst many others.
MNP is a permanent system which allows Ghanaian mobile customers to move from one mobile service provider to another whilst retaining their existing number.
Mobile customers who wish to change networks without changing their number need to only bring their mobile phone (with SIM) and an ID to a shop or agent of the network they wish to join.
