Ghana’s only surviving boxer in the Olympic games, Duke Micah lost terribly on Friday in the round of 16 of the men’s flyweight 52 kg division at the ongoing Olympic games at the ExCeL - South Arena.
The 20-year-old lost 5-2, 7-3, 7-3 on points to his more aggressive Irish Michael Conlan.
The Ghanaian boxer's 8-19 points defeat ends Ghana’s participation in boxing after Isaac Dogbe and Suleiman Tetteh were all beaten in their first bouts while Maxwell Amponsah was disallowed to fight.
Elsewhere long jumper Ignatius Gaisah failed to qualify from more than thirty jumpers with a jump of 7.79meters
Ghana is now left with just two athletes in the competition, Vida Anim and Alberta Ampomah who will be in competition on Monday and Sunday respectively.
After Heptathlon Queen Margaret Simpson pulled out of the Olympic games due to an an Acute Kidney Infection in the early hours of Friday.
