Sun Shade Foundation, a not-for-profit financial organization is hoping to advance credit to 900 families in Kumasi by the end of this year to help improve the lives of the poor.
Prospective beneficiaries form groups of three, with each initially receiving 300 Ghana cedis without collateral.
They will repay in weekly installments over four months. Over 250 market women, including 13 widows, have so far benefited.
Executive Director, Isaac Akohene-Asiedu says 20,000 families will be targeted in the next five years.
Sun Shade Foundation trains beneficiaries in customer service, book keeping, and also encourages them to save at no charge as part of its business training and technical assistance.
Beneficiaries are also given Personal development training.
Mr. Akohene-Kwofie is overwhelmed by the success story of those assisted by Sun Shade Foundation.
He believes the presence of the foundation to provide assistance to the poor and the neglect in Ghana’s business set up makes it unique.
Testimonies on activities and how Sun Shade has affected lives of traders meaningfully abounds in Kumasi and its environs.
