The Volta River Authority, VRA says the conversion of its machines to run on gas is in the economic interest of the country. The authority has contracted Wellhead Power Development to convert the Tema Thermal Power Complex into a dual fuel plant. The contract, valued at 11.6 million dollars will enable the power station to run on natural gas from the West African Gas Pipeline in addition to diesel which has been the primary source of fuel for production.VRA’s Deputy Chief Executive, Kirk Coffie tells Joy Business this should ultimately reduce fuel cost to the benefit of the country.
