Accra Great Olympics board chairman Amarkai Amarteifio has quit his post after five-years in-charge.
The former Sports Minister leaves the capital club who are struggling to secure promotion to the Ghana top-flight in 2010.
Amarteifio has been criticized by a cross-section of the Olympics fans as being the cause of their misfortune.
But the former Sports Minister under the PNDC government believes he has helped to restructure the club.
He presented a report on the club's intention to proceed on a share floatation exercise in addition to his resignation letter.
"I am no longer able to continue in my role as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Accra Great Olympics as I have fulfilled the assignment for which I was mandated," portions of his letter read.
"I refer to the submission, to the Directors of Accra Great Olympics Football Club, of the final report on the flotation of shares in the club as the basis for the restructuring exercise.
"That brings the curtain down on the assignment for which I received the mandate of the Accra High Court presided over by Justice Inkumsah Abban (Mrs).
"I believe that the report when implemented will secure the success of Accra Great Olympics.
"At this point I will like to thank the rank and file of Olympics for their support during my tenure as Chairman of the Board of Directors. I wish the Club well."
