Many traders appear not to be aware of the enhanced security features of the soon to be released 50 Ghana cedi note. The Bank of Ghana has announced that the upgraded banknote will be in circulation from next Tuesday. With just four days for its introduction, many forex bureau operators and shop owners seem ignorant about the new-features of the note. Some of them tell JOY-BUSINESS they will reject the currency as medium of exchange. According to the Bank of Ghana the main rationale behind the introduction of the upgraded bank note is to check counterfeiting of the currency. The new 50 Ghana cedi bank note comes with some enhanced security features, prominent among them being the green cocoa pod spark which replaces the silver hologram patch on the right-corner of the currency.
