The FA Cup committee has confirmed to JOY Sports that, this year’s MTN FA Cup awards night which was scheduled to come off on 17th August 2012 at the Banquet Hall, State House here in Accra has been postponed to September 14, 2012.
The awards ceremony which is suppose to climax this season’s cup competition won by New Edubiase will see players and officials of participating clubs rewarded with awards like player of the tournament, coach of the tournament and among others.
According to Kurt Okraku who is a member of the FA Cup committee, the ceremony had to be rescheduled due to the death and final funeral rites of late President Evans John Attah Mills.
“The death of our president derailed our preparations and threw it into disarray and some of the service providers were engaged and therefore it hindered”. He told JOY Sports
“The event has been fixed on September 14 by which time we will be in a better position to deliver a good event”.
New Edubiase won the FA Cup for the first time in the competition's history after beating AshantiGold 1-0 at the Accra sports stadium a fortnight ago.
