An industrialist, Mr. Appiah Menkah, is blaming present and past governments for the dwindling prospects of the manufacturing industry in the country.
According to him, the two main political parties – New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress - which have been at the helm of the country’s affairs since 1993 have done nothing to ensure the country’s development, accusing them of failing to adequately invest in the private sector despite the huge promise the sector holds.
The renowned lawyer and politician made these remarks at a lecture organized by the Centre for Freedom and Accuracy on Wednesday.
“I see whatever is happening in Ghana since 1993 up to today as sheer illusion, none of the governments is serious in promoting the private sector,” he maintained
He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to challenge themselves and make the needed sacrifices to ensure Ghana’s development.
He feared if the nation fails to do away with "petty personal interest and comfort" and "hollow catchy political slogans", confidence in the manufacturing sector would be seriously undermined.
